Our Congregation of the Sister Servants of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was founded in 1894 in Krakow, Poland by Saint Joseph Sebastian Pelczar and the Servant of God Mother Clare Szczesna for the express purpose of glorifying God, sanctifying its members, and performing the works of mercy for God’s children.
As religious living a contemplative-active life, we seek to extend the Kingdom of the Love of the Sacred Heart in our daily life by means of virtually every kind of need of the Church -- teaching, nursing, work in parishes, work with families and youth, missionary work – wherever we can help to promote the glory of God and the welfare of our neighbor. Our Sisters live and work not only in the country of our motherhouse - Poland - but also in the United States, Italy, France, and the mission countries of Libya, Bolivia, Jamaica, West Indies, and Ukraine.
As the visible sign of our religious consecration, we wear a full-length, black habit with scapular and veil, a rosary, Franciscan cord, and crucifix, as well as a ring received at our perpetual profession of vows.
A woman between eighteen and thirty-five years of age who possesses adequate health, who is not burdened by considerable debt, and who desires to give herself totally to God, may be admitted to our Congregation. Our formation program requires a postulancy with 6 months to a year - a time to familiarize herself with the religious life and our religious Congregation, then a two-year novitiate, which is a very special time for prayer, study, and community living, enabling the novice for the preparation and necessary understanding of the vows in order to make religious profession and become the Spouse of Jesus Christ. The newly professed religious will renew this profession of vows for five consecutive years before making her perpetual commitment of final vows in our Congregation.
If you feel drawn to such a life, we welcome your questions, and invite you to come and visit us. We pray for your discernment that you may fulfill the Lord’s will for you in joy.

In the eyes of a child:
